The Center, which contributes to the personal development of individuals with disabilities by socializing, also allows the athletes of Çankaya Municipality Visually Impaired Sports Club to do their training. There is also a barrier-free playhouse in the center where preschool education is given to children aged 4-6. In the center, which includes courses for parents, audio library, cafeteria, conference and multi-purpose hall, and a health unit, there is a Sensory Integration Room for individuals with mental disabilities and a home model Independent Living Skills Unit to support daily work.

THE CENTER OVER THE BARRIERS

Underlining that the center has filled an important gap in the capital Ankara since its opening, Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen said, “We built this important center so that our disabled brothers and sisters can participate in an unhindered life. Here, we offer education opportunities to our disabled citizens as well as their families. It is a great pleasure for us to enable both disabled people and their families to participate in life under better conditions. Municipalities have an important duty to overcome the obstacles in the life of each disabled brother together. We happily fulfill this duty and responsibility at our Aşık Veysel Barrier-Free Life Center, where we provide all services free of charge.”
