- THE KITCHEN THAT WILL SERVE 3 MEALS A DAY FOR A THOUSAND PEOPLE TO KAHRAMANMARAŞ

 

- 48 MOBILE TOILETS, STOVES, TONS OF COAL AND WOOD ARE ON THE ROAD WITH 5 TRUCKS

 

The number of vehicles carrying humanitarian aid materials that Çankaya Municipality, which established Ankara's largest aid collection center on the first day of the earthquake that hit 10 of our Kahramanmaraş-centered provinces, to the earthquake regions between 6 February and 21 February 2023, increased to 192. Çankaya Municipality will also establish a kitchen that will provide 3 meals a day for 1000 people in Kahramanmaraş. In addition, 5 more trucks carrying 48 mobile toilets, food products, and different types of stoves, tons of coal and wood, hygiene materials, diapers, new underwear products were set on the road.

 

Çankaya Municipality continues to work with all its personnel to heal the wounds of the earthquake that hit 10 provinces in Kahramanmaraş and to alleviate the pain to a bit. The table that includes the assistance provided by Çankaya Municipality to the provinces damaged by the earthquake between February 6 and February 21, 2023, and to the earthquake victims who came to Ankara from these provinces, is as follows:

 

HUMANITARIAN AID

 

Ankara's largest logistics aid center was established in Çankaya Municipality Ahmet Taner Kışlalı Sports Hall and Ümitköy Çankaya House. Aid from citizens grew like an avalanche. There is no room left to take a step from the boxes in the Sports Hall. Staff and volunteers from Çankaya worked 24 hours a day. After all; A total of 192 vehicles, including 90 trucks carrying humanitarian aid, 41 freight trucks, 51 pickup trucks, 8 minibuses, 1 funeral vehicle and 1 bus, were sent to the earthquake zone. Humanitarian aid materials were distributed to the citizens affected by the earthquake in the earthquake regions under the organization of AFAD. The funeral vehicle sent to Adana carried the bodies to the provinces of Adıyaman and Şanlıurfa.

 

AID TO EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

 

Çankaya Municipality also had earthquake victims who came to Ankara from the earthquake provinces. As of February 18, 2023, the Municipality provided food, clothing and hygiene materials to a total of 26,611 earthquake victims who came to Ankara in Ahmet Taner Kışlalı Sports Hall and Ümitköy Çankaya House. Departments were created according to the needs, and the demands of the earthquake victims were quickly met in the company of their companions. A playground was also created for the children who were affected by the earthquake in the aid collection and distribution center. The children painted and played games with the volunteers. 5 playhouses of Çankaya Municipality started to serve children from the earthquake zone. 90 earthquake victims who came to Kırıkkale, one of the earthquake provinces, were met by Çankaya Municipality and brought to Ankara by buses.

 

OUR SEARCH AND RESCUE WORKS

 

Çankaya Municipality worked not only in Ankara, but also in the provinces hit by the earthquake. 30 municipality personnel were sent to Hatay to support search and rescue activities in earthquake areas. The teams personally participated in the live rescue activities from the wreckage in the organization of AFAD.

 

OUR WASH REMOVAL WORKS

 

2 construction equipment (Beko Loader - Tractor Bucket), 4 trucks, 2 pickup trucks and 18 municipality personnel also participated in search and rescue, debris removal, excavation and exhumation activities in Kahramanmaraş.

 

AID TO KAHRAMANMARAS

 

5 trucks carrying 48 mobile toilets, food products, different types of stoves, hygiene materials, diapers and new underwear were sent to Kahramanmaraş, one of the provinces most affected by the earthquake. Among the aids were 18 tons of coal, 5 tons of wood, 220 boxes of materials with 24 stoves. In addition, the kitchen where 3 meals a day for 1000 people will be served was sent to Kahramanmaraş.
