The "European Waste Reduction Week", which started as a large-scale project aiming to raise awareness about waste prevention in Europe, was held this year on 19-27 November with the theme of "Sustainable Textile".

The activities, which started with an information panel for Çankaya Municipality personnel, continued throughout the week with activities held at the kindergarten, playhouse, Çankaya House, Çankaya Springhouse and Aşık Veysel Barrier-Free Life Center within the district. Within the scope of the European Waste Reduction Week Activities, Çankaya Primary School pre-school class students and Çankaya Municipality Masal Kalesi (Eng: Fairytale Castle) Day-care Center 6-year-old students came together and made frames, dolls and pencil holders from waste fabrics. Then, the products made from waste textiles by the students studying in all kindergartens of Çankaya Municipality were exhibited at Umut Day-care Center. Children of Sokullu Playhouse also contributed to the recycling of waste.

In the event, to which Çankaya Municipality 23 Nisan (Eng: April) Children's House also contributed, little students made cloth shopping bags from old t-shirts. In the Children's House, where informative booths were set up, each student who brought second-hand clothes was given food to feed stray animals. The children, who also sorted out the clothes to be transformed, conveyed the usable ones to the needy with the notes they prepared.
