Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, who stated that they included the library in the municipality property 5 months ago, that inaugurated on the 86th anniversary of Sevgi Soysal's birthday, said: “Sevgi Soysal is a very valuable person, she wrote the works that best describe the 12 March Military Coup period and that atmosphere. She narrated social events, youth and women's freedom very well. They say every death is an early death, yes, but Sevgi Soysal's death is a very early one. I am happy and proud to be able to keep the name of Sevgi Soysal in the library in her cherished memory.”

NEW WORKING ENVIRONMENT FOR STUDENTS

Stating that the library will meet a great need of the Cebeci region, where university students are concentrated, Mr. Taşdelen said, “Our young people will be able to study comfortably here. In order for students to be able to do their studies comfortably, their stomachs need to be satiated. We have developed a project on how to feed students during the economic crisis. With the first step we took last year, we created an environment where university students can have their dinner in our Service Building and 100.Yıl Çankaya House. Also, breaking new ground in Turkey, we bring lunch to 3 thousand primary school students in 18 schools within the borders of our district. We do not complain while doing these services, we serve the public, not the rent. We are on the side of the social state. Education and health should be free. We believe this. Education and health are the rights of every citizen. We will continue to give the best example of social municipality with the service we provide.”

Sevgi Soysal's older brother İzzet Yenen, who participated in the library opening, thanked everyone who contributed, especially Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, as her sister's name will live on in a library.

MUNICIPALITY SHOULD NOT PAY RENT

Noting that they included the ownership of Cebeci Çankaya House to the Municipality 5 months ago, Mr. Taşdelen said, “We will buy the same 4-storey building in Bahçelievler and make it the property of the municipality. We will build the Çankaya House and the library there as well. Now we are only tenants in Çayyolu Service Building. We will open our Çayyolu Service Building in December and we will move there. At the end of December, we will have nowhere to rent. The municipality does not and should not pay rent,” he said.
