ÇANKAYA MUNICIPALITY HELD THE "DIPLOMATIC MISSIONS IN ANKARA" CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION

Çankaya Municipality held the "Diplomatic Missions in Ankara" Conference, which was held within the scope of the European Union Project, on May 12. The exhibition, in which the 50-year diplomatic relations of the foreign representatives in Çankaya are explained, met with the citizens of the Capital following the conference opened by urban scientist and writer Prof. Dr. Ruşen Keleş.

 

Çankaya Municipality held the "Diplomatic Missions in Ankara" Conference, which was organized within the scope of the European Union Project, on May 12. The exhibition, in which the 50-year diplomatic relations of the foreign representatives in Çankaya are explained, met with the citizens of the Capital following the conference opened by urban scientist and writer Prof. Dr. Ruşen Keleş.

 

At the conference, where the Georgian, Hungarian and Swiss Ambassadors attended as speakers, the history of diplomatic relations of the young Turkish Republic was conveyed, while METU Faculty Member Assoc. Haluk Zelef, Başkent University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Billur Karagöz and Ankara University Faculty Member Temuçin Ertan made presentations on the history of embassies and the architectural history of the embassy area in Çankaya.

 

Noting that Çankaya is in a position where international relations and international cultural diplomacy have always been important, Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen said, Çankaya Municipality has always attached importance to developing social and cultural relations with friendly and brotherly countries in the focus of international policy. Çankaya has sister cities with the connections it has established in many parts of the world at the local level in order to transform the relations seen as “Behind the Walls” into relations of friendship and fraternity between peoples. The good relations established in Çankaya will continue to organize joint events with our sister cities, share knowledge and experience, and develop friendships with the peoples of different countries. We will continue to walk on the path of modern civilization drawn by our leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, saying "Peace at home, peace in the world".

 

After the conference, which was held under the coordination of Ankara Philately and Urban Studies Association President Dr. Koray Özalp and Koç University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Filiz Yenişehirlioğlu, the exhibition in which the 50-year diplomatic relations of the foreign representatives in Çankaya was explained, met with the citizens of the Capital. The exhibition at Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center can be seen until May 27.
