LOYALTY TO PHARMACISTS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE PANDEMIC - PHARMACISTS MEMORIAL PARK OPENED IN ÇANKAYA

Çankaya Municipality opened the Eczacılar Anıt (Eng: Pharmacists Memorial) Park, which will keep the memory of the pharmacists, who served at the risk of their lives and lost their lives during the pandemic period.

Mayor Taşdelen: “We do not forget those who serve our country, our nation and our state.”

The Pharmacists Memorial Park, which was realized in cooperation with Çankaya Municipality and Turkish Pharmacists Association, was opened. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen said, "We will keep their names alive in this memorial park in order not to forget the pharmacists, who work in the most difficult conditions". Stating that they have added 84 new parks to the district in the past 7 years, Mr. Taşdelen said:

“By the end of the year; the green area which we have brought to Çankaya, will reach 1.5 million square meters. We do not forget who served our country, nation and state in Çankaya. We do not forget our martyrs, our people of culture and art. All of their names have been kept living in 526 parks in Çankaya and we will continue keep their names living. Because Çankaya is the place where the foundation of the Turkish Republic was laid, this is the district of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.”

President of the Turkish Pharmacists Association Erdoğan Çolak said that they lost 85 lives, including 63 pharmacists and 22 pharmacy employees, during the pandemic process. He thanked Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, who allocated the park to keep the memory of the pharmacists, who lost their lives during pandemic. Mr. Çolak, who described themselves as health soldiers struggling to let the people have their medicine, said, ”This epidemic was also a risk. We've been on the front lines. We lost our lives trying to save lives. Let the relatives and friends of all our profession martyrs know that our souls, who lost their lives, will live in our hearts forever.”

Before the opening of the Pharmacists Memorial Park, plaques were presented to the relatives of 22 of 85 pharmacists, who lost their lives during the pandemic. Anıt Park was built on an area of 8 thousand 162 square meters, where the memory of the deceased pharmacists will be kept living. The park which is iocated in Kızılırmak Neighborhood, has a 425 square meter children's playground, a 385 square meter basketball court, a sand and ornamental pool and a 5 thousand 700 square meters of green area.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, where CHP Ankara Deputy Levent Gök, CHP Ankara Deputy Gamze Taşçıer, İYİ Party Deputy General Chair Ünzile Yüksel, AK Party İstanbul Deputy Müşerref Pervin, Tuba Durgut, CHP Çankaya District President Fahri Yıldırım, İYİ Party Çankaya District Chair Kevser Ofluoğlu and many citizens attended.
