01 September 2021 Wednesday 12:36

Çankaya's "Women's Labor Festival" is getting ready to meet with the citizens of the Capital for the fourth time this year. Handicrafts and products of nearly 300 Çankaya women will meet with Ankara residents at Ahlatlıbel Atatürk Park on 3, 4 and 5 September.

Çankaya Municipality, which has carried out many studies and projects for an egalitarian society and to eliminate existing inequalities, is organizing the "Women's Labor Festival", where women's handicraft products are offered for sale for the 4th time this year. At the festival, which will meet with the people of the capital city in Ahlatlıbel Atatürk Park on September 3, 4 and 5, handicraft products of nearly 300 Çankaya women will be offered for sale.

ALL INCOME GOES TO WOMEN

Çankaya Municipality, which has the "Purple Flag" for its services that ensure equal participation of women in social life and employment, will ensure that the income of women from sales will be entirely theirs. At the stands to be set up in Ahlatlıbel Atatürk Park, many products of nearly 300 women, from wooden items to handbags, from jewelry to knitted dolls, will be presented to the festival visitors.

THE FESTIVAL WILL BE CROWNED WITH CONCERTS

The festival, which will be crowned with 13 different concerts to be held on two big stages, will offer hundreds of Ankara residents a pleasant weekend. Aiming to make women's labor visible and products to take their place in the market, the Festival will support not only women but also artists from the Capital.

"WHERE THERE IS A WOMAN, SUCCESS INEVITABLY COMES"

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, who emphasized that Çankaya Municipality attaches great importance to the employment of women, their development in terms of education and their deserved place in society and in business life, said “We are the first local government that was awarded with the Purple Flag, which demonstrates the success of gender equality practices. We owe this to the sensitivity of gender equality we show while planning and producing the service. Half of the deputy mayors, managers and employees in Çankaya Municipality are women. With the awareness that where women are, success will inevitably come, we recognize equal opportunities for women in both employment and management levels. When you don't put artificial obstacles in front of them, women already show how successful they are.”

Noting that the best way to protect the Republic, the legacy of Atatürk, is to walk side by side with men and women towards the goal of modernity, Mr. Taşdelen said: "With our kindergarten with a capacity of 1,700 children, we also enable women to participate in business life and socialize. We provide training on sales and marketing techniques through the portal, we provide training and support for them to establish businesses in every field. Çankaya Municipality, which is also involved in international projects under the title of Gender Sensitive Climate Policies, will continue to put its signature under exemplary projects with works that will highlight women's labor."
