ÇANKAYA WAS DEEMED WORTHY OF FOUR AWARDS FROM THE HEALTHY CITIES UNION

Çankaya Municipality won four awards in the "Healthy Cities Competition" which has been organizing  by the Healthy Cities Association every year to encourage the production of healthy city projects.

Çankaya, which competed with 35 municipalities from all corners of Turkey, was deemed worthy of four awards with its projects entitled Kentte Tarım Yapılır, Birlikte Sağlık, Minikler İklim Krizinin Farkında and Çöpten Çıkan Kütüphane (Eng: The City Is Engaged In Farming, Health Together, The Tiny Kids Aware of the Climate Crisis and The Library Out Of Garbage) in “Healthy Life, Healthy Urban Planning and Healthy Environment” categories.

Çankaya was deemed worthy of four awards from the Healthy Cities Best Practice Competition, which was organized for the 11th time this year in order to encourage the production of healthy city projects by the Healthy Cities Association, which has 74 member municipalities and carrying out its activities as the Turkey extension of The Healthy Cities Movement, which has been continuing for more than 30 years in Europe. Çankaya Municipality, which is also a founding member of the Association since 2005, successfully represented the Capital Ankara by winning 3 jury special awards and 1 category award in the competition, where 35 local governments participated with 102 projects.

REWARD FOR HEALTHY ÇANKAYA

Çankaya Municipality received the grand prize this year in the Healthy Life Category with the project "The City Is Engaged In Farming" realized by Ata Kent Agricultural Hobby House, which enables doing agriculture in the city. The project, which won numerous awards so far, that encourages Çankaya people to do qualified agriculture in their environment, is still shown as an example project to the local governments of Turkey.

Çankaya Municipality, which has brought many green spaces and sports areas to the capital Ankara, was awarded the special jury prize in the category of Healthy Urban Planning with its “Health Together”, which includes a qualified urban environment that appeals to all ages of the designing of its Zafer Park, İsmet İnönü Park and Lausanne Parks,which are determined as urban parks and Erdal İnönü Indoor Swimming Pool that located in the same region.

PROJECT FOR CHILDREN

Çankaya Municipality, which provides the most comprehensive preschool services in Turkey with 1500 children, brought the Healthy Cities Special Jury Awards in “Healthy Environment category” to Çankaya with its projects; “The Tiny Kids Aware of the Climate Crisis" project, which aims to raise awareness on climate change through nature-based and creativity-based training given in kindergartens, and “The Library out of Garbage Project”, created by the municipality's cleaning workers from the books they find while collecting the garbage.

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, who stated that they produce and implement projects for a healthy individual and a healthy city in addition to basic municipal services, said that: "We act by considering the service in a wide range with the understanding of social democratic municipalism. Healthy individuals are possible with healthy cities; healthy cities are possible with healthy individuals. We consider the people and the city as a whole and thus offer our services to our people. I am happy that these four projects that focus on human and nature have been awarded”.
