THE NEW PROJECT IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL INTEGRATION OF THE PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Çankaya Municipality is partnering with a new project under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) between Turkey and the European Union.

A series of training is foreseen to facilitate the employment of persons with disabilities in the media sector through this project which will be realized with the Assosiation of Media and Communication Academy. The Project, which will be launched on February 28, 2017 at Ankara HiltonSA, is one of the 145 projects that deemed worthy to be supported among 2200 projects.

Commen prejudices in our society results for the people with disabilities that they cannot keep pace with the speed of the working life, based on competition, and that’s why, for example, they are not employed in the field of media.

Our project is in the opinion that these prejudices are baseless; if the obstacles are removed which persons with disabilities are faced with, and appropriate trainings are given according to their disability status, they can also be employed well in the field of media. In this context, the trainings are planned to prepare the educable persons with disabilities for working life in the much-needed main areas of the media.

These areas are planned as;

                2. Correspondent (News Monitoring and News Writing)

                3. Internet News Portal Editor

                4. Video Editing Operator

                5. Graphic Design

                6. TV / Cinema Make-up Artist

288 hours of vocational training and 144 hours of Personal Development lessons will be given to every single trainee at the end of the 6-month practical training. In addition, our trainees will be monitored in 2 days of a week by Specialist Ergotherapists, Psychologists and Social Workers, and the assistance against possible syndromes will be provided. As a result of the trainings, it is aimed to provide employment of 30% of the trainees who will receive their certificates.

• The public spots and documentary film will be prepared with the data to be obtained from the professional filming of the activities to be realized within the framework of the project, and it will be ensured that, they will be screened on the media organizations.
• At the end of the project, a "Short Film Competition" consisting of the films of our trainees will be organized.
• EU standards, innovative approaches to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Employment of Persons with Disabilities in EU, and the adaptation of the certified training programs of professionals to persons with disabilities will be realized in the scope of the project.
• It is also aimed to bring relevant NGO’s together and create a network during these studies.
