Çankaya Municipality is preparing to present the historical journey of the Contemporary Arts Center in its 20th year, which has been transformed from a water house into an art center, to the citizens of Ankara with an exhibition named "Chronicle of an Art Center".

In the name of protecting the historical background, the exhibition will show the adventure of the Contemporary Arts Center from 1926 with every detail, can be seen from 13th of October till 10th of November in the Contemporary Arts Center.

The building, which has served as an art center for Ankara for 20 years, was a water jouse providing water to Çankaya, Yıldız, Orta Ayrancı, Küçükesat and Güvenevler neighborhoods for a period. The historical journey of the building was recorded as a documentary as well.

Doğan Taşdelen, the Mayor of that period, expressed his feelings about the center in the opening ceremony, to which Süleyman Demirel, the President of the period participated, as: “Every single thing men created is beautiful. I feel the love, beauty and the pleasure every time I see it as a father sees his children. This place used to be a water house and when we bought it from the Head City we turned it into an art center. We naturally did not consider the economic situation of Çankaya at that time, we only considered the future of public.”

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen thanked his father Doğan Taşdelen and the people who contributed to the opening of the center and stated “With 20 years of pride, the art will come to us more for many 20 years. Societies who look after arts, will finally paint the skies with their colors.”

The exhibition, which tells the process of the Contemporary Arts Center from the beginning of the 1926s with from the eyes of the witnesses and transfers the process to its finest detail is available to visit from October 13th November 10th.
