BUCHAREST AND ÇANKAYA HAVE BECOME SISTER CITIES

Çankaya Municipality has added a new one to its sister cities. With the protocol signed with Sector 1 Municipality, the largest municipality in Bucharest, the number of sister cities increased to 16.

Çankaya Municipality has added  Sector 1 Municipality of Bucharest, to its sister cities, where it has signed a protocol by adopting the principle of developing twinning relations between countries and peoples in the field of local governments.

The ceremony was hosted by the Mayor of Çankaya, Alper Taşdelen , with the participation of Ambassador to Ankara Gabriel Sopanda, Sector 1 Mayor Daniel Tudorache and his delegation.

ALPER TAŞDELEN: THIS COLLABORATION WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR BROTHERHOOD

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen stated being extremely proud and happy about signed protocol and to be hosted Sector 1 Municipality "Çankaya is a special district in Turkey by the reason of the Republic was founded here, Çankaya was established by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Besides the Turkish government located in all states, Çankaya is Turkey's largest town with a population of 1 million. I would like to thank Mr. Ambassador for his great contribution in signing this protocol. During his visit, he mentioned the existence of a municipality in Bucharest with the same characteristics as Çankaya. In our speeches, we reached a consensus on the idea of ​​becoming a sister city with Sector 1 Municipality. Ankara is Turkey's capital, Çankaya is Ankara’s capital. In this sense, I sincerely believe that with the Sector 1 Municipality we will develop our relations. This cooperation will contribute to the Turkish-Roman brotherhood, as well.

INTIMATE CONVERSATION ABOUT FOOTBALL BETWEEN MAYORS

Before the protocol, the two presidents' football chat actualise pleasant moments. Taşdelen  “Romania is a country we really see brothers. Especially the arrival of Hagi and Popescu, added value to Turkish football. With these players Galatasaray became the European Champion. Currently, Lucescu is the coach of Turkey's national team of football.” Sector 1 Municipality Mayor said “Pancu is the coach of Rapid Bucharest team who was the player in Besiktaş before for several years.”

After the protocol, the guest delegation visited Anıtkabir, observed the projects and services of Çankaya Municipality and received information from the authorities.
