ÇANKAYA WILL PROVIDE SERVICE IN THE FEAST OF SACRIFICE WITH A FULL COMPLEMENT OF STAFF 

 

Çankaya Municipality completed the coordination for the Feast of Sacrifice, which will start on August 21st. Citizens will be served with 11 departments to ensure that the holiday passes without any problem. The municipality will have about 200 staff in presence. The municipality will also provide parking for more than 5 thousand vehicles for citizens who will be in the area of sales and slaughter of sacrificial animals.

 

Çankaya Municipality will provide support to the citizens in catching the animals that escaped with the Animal Catching Team. Çankaya Municipality will also control the animals that will enter the sales area with the ultrasound in the case of the suspicious pregnancy.

 

Çankaya Municipality started to work on determining the tent places of animal sellers applying for the sacrificial animals’ sales area in Yeşilkent District (Mühye Village) for the first time as part of the preparations for the Feast of Sacrifice. On 9th - 20th of July the applicants will be assigned on 23rd of July in the presence of a notary. The installation of 160 tents of sites will start on August 1st. The municipality has completed the process of sacrificing in order that the citizens and the animal sellers have a peaceful holiday. The municipality organized every single detail from cleaning to disinfection, from security to transportation. During the feast, health teams and ambulances will be available in the field.

 

SACRIFICIAL ANIMALS WILL BE CONTROLLED

 

Çankaya Municipality, which organizes the sales area of the sacrificial animals this year as it is in every year, in line with the needs of the sellers and the citizens who come to buy animals; will work with the departments of Veterinary, Social Welfare, Cleaning, Technical Works, Environmental Protection and Control, Support Services, Financial Services, Cultural and Social Affairs, Press and Public Relations. The physical conditions of the area will be undertaken by the Directorate of Technical Works. The Directorate of Social Welfare will serve for any injuries or other health problems, the Directorate of Cleaning will be responsible for the hygiene of the area, the Directorate of Environmental Protection and Control will control the areas where the slaughter area is not permitted.

 

The Directorate of Veterinary Affairs will carry out the control of the animals with the ultrasonography device in case of the pregnancy doubt. The Veterinary Affairs Directorate will prevent the entry of animals which are pregnant, has no paper, are younger than two years old, and will be spraying the area every day until the end of Feast after the animals are taken to the area. Çankaya Municipality also established a catching team this year. The catching team provided by the Directorate of Veterinary Affairs will meet requests from different parts of the district, which will serve before and during the feast.

 

MUNIPICAL POLICE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SECURITY OF THE SLAUGHTER AREA

 

Coordination in the area will be provided by the Municipal Police Department together with other units. Çankaya Municipal Police which will take precautions to prevent the traffic congestion will take the application for the butchers for the sacrifice section; will make an appointment for people. Slaughtering of small cattle and cattle animals will be done in separate places. The area will be cleaned at regular basis every day.

 

INFORMATIVE BROCHURE IS READY

  

Çankaya Municipality has prepared a brochure to inform the citizens who will buy sacrificial animal this year as it was in the past years. The brochure contains important information about what to look for when purchasing an animal, the minimum technical and hygienic conditions that must be found at the slaughtering area, the measures to be taken during and after the slaughter. Some of the information in the brochure are as follows:

 

Points to Consider When Buying a Sacrificial Animal

 

• The animal has a veterinary medical certificate or Certificate of Origin

• Animal identification card

• The animal mustn’t be too weak and too young, the meat is plumped

• No pregnant or gave birth in recent times

• Healthy appearance

• No smelling diarrhea, saliva and nasal discharge

• Cattle and cows should be at least 2 years old; sheep and goats should be at least 1-year-old.

 

Minimum Technical and Hygienic Conditions to be found in Slaughter Areas

 

• Places to be cut on are easily washable and disinfectable

• Lighting and ventilation is sufficient

• The water at the area is of a drinkable, sufficient quantity and pressure

• Having a suitable system for cleaning and disinfection of the hands of the workers and cutting tools

• Ensure that the wastes generated after cutting are evacuated in a manner that does not harm the environment and public health in accordance with hygienic conditions

 

• The places (water, toilets, closed seats) where the farmer, dealer, staff, butcher, citizen can meet their needs must be provided.
