NAZIM AND LIVANELI’S MONUMENT HAS BEEN UNVEILED IN ÇANKAYA

Çankaya Municipality organized an event for Nazım Hikmet's 116th Birthday celebration in Zülfü Livaneli Cultural Center.

 

After the event, Nazım Hikmet and Zülfü Livaneli Monuments, which were built by the Sculptor Murat Daşkın and placed in the Cultural Center’s garden, was opened with a ceremony.

 

Zülfü Livaneli, Nazım Hikmet Culture and Arts Foundation manager Kıymet Coşkun, program and documentary producer Nebil Özgentürk, CHP Science and Culture Platform President Onur Bilge Kula, former Youth and Sports Minister, Fikret Ünlü, Çankaya Former Mayor Doğan Taşdelen and many art lovers attended the ceremony which was hosted by Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, who made a speech at the ceremony, said: "We are living the honor of opening the monuments of these two values. Nazım Hikmet and Zülfü Livaneli are two values not only of this country but of all mankind."

Zülfü Livaneli said: "The greatest weapon of the enlightenment is culture and art. Culture and art is the work of the enlighteners."

In the events musicians including the Gökhan Över (keyboard), Umut Ar (vocals and guitar), Ismail Kabacı (violin) and Halil Sezai Ünsal (percussion) sang the songs composed from the poems of Nazım Hikmet besides Livaneli’s songs.

The event ended with the opening of the monuments at the Cultural Center’s garden after the concert.
