ÇSM HOSTS THE EXHIBITION "DRESSING A NATION: SÜMERBANK"

Çankaya Municipality Contemporary Arts Center opened the doors of a nostalgic journey to the past slightly with the exhibition "DRESSING A NATION: Sümerbank Patterns Between The Years Of 1956-2000" for the art lovers of Ankara.

 

Thousands of patterns of Sümerbank, one of the most important breakthroughs made in the history of Turkish economy since 1930's, met with the Ankara people at the Contemporary Arts Center. Çankaya Deputy Mayors Yasemin Asil, Gülsün Bor Güner and Nafiz Kaya also attended to the exhibition where art lovers showed an intense interest.

Speech said that: "We are proud to organize the fourth of this exhibition in Ankara, and we thank Çankaya Municipality and its laborers."

 

The rest of the textile archives from Sumerbank, which represents the industrialization movement of the republican period, and its production has been stopped since the year 2000 and which is protected by Bursa Merinos Textile and Industry Museum, were presented to the attention of the capital with their original designs.

 

THE MODERN HISTORICAL PROCESS OF MODA REVEALS IN THE EXHIBITION

 

The exhibition offers a historical journey to art lovers with the following titles of world culture and fashion history from the 1930s to the early 2000s which are; "Founding Years",
"War Fashion", "Fashion Winds from America", "Futurism in Fashion and Every Place is Sümerbank", " Return to Nature in Moda and Maturity Years of Sümerbank ", "Consumption Years During the Privatization Period", and "Globalization and Individualism". The exhibition which features 6 thousand 600 fabrics produced between 1956-2001 and transferred to digital media, also describes the important events in the world culture and fashion history from the 1930s to the early 2000s and the impact of these events on Turkey on a timeline.

 

THE FABRICS ARE UNDER PROTECTION

 

The fabric archive of Nazilli Basma Sanayii Institution was preserved by Adnan Menderes University and the archives belonging to İzmir Halkapınar Basma Sanayii Müessesesine were protected by Moda Textile Design Department of Izmir University of Economics Fine. Arts and Design. The project exhibition, which is prepared by transferring digital media by Moda Textile Design Department of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of İzmir University of Economics, will be presented to the taste of to Ankara art lovers at Çankaya Municipality Contemporary Art Center till February 12th, 2018.
