Çankaya Municipality has clocked its prestigious projects up. The Cultural Center named after the Master Artist Zülfü Livaneli was inaugurated in the Yıldızevler Neigbourhood.

Alper Taşdelen: “It is because Livaneli is the reach of a democracy, peace and fraternity river running both in this country and in the World. Now he brings us consciousness, struggle and thought of the enlightened.”

Zülfü Livaneli: “Don’t give up hope of my territory, don’t do give up hope of our territory, let’s start working guts out all together from now on not to lose our country to anyone.”

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu: “Zülfü Livaneli is an artist who has more than one string to his fiddle. It honours such an artefact is named after him.”

As Çankaya Municipality continuously goes on its investments, it puts one more prestigious project into service of the dwellers. Çankaya Municipality, which undersigns investments in many fields from Cultural Center to public gardens, from day care centers to Çankaya Houses, has carried out the inauguration of Zülfü Livaneli Cultural Center.

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Chairperson of the CHP and Yorgo Papandreu, the former PM of Greece and the President of Socialist International, Vice Chairpersons and party assembly members of the CHP and Zülfü Livaneli as honorary guest have participated into inauguration of the Zülfü Livaneli Cultural Center hosted by Alper Taşdelen, Mayor of Çankaya. Furthermore many Ambassadors notably of England, Greece and Germany have also attended the inauguration.

Hikmet Çetin and Murat Karayalçın, the former Chairpersons of the CHP, Yaşar Yakış, the former Foreign Minsiter and Doğan Taşdelen, the former Mayor of Çankaya and many people have attended the inauguration.

“I HAVE THE GREAT HONOUR TO NAME IT AFTER ZÜLFÜ LİVANELİ”

Alper Taşdelen, Mayor of Çankaya, in his address during the inauguration stated that he undersigns a new understanding in Çankaya by building the Zülfü Livaneli Cultural Center in the belief that it will be better to honour people who enrich this country and humanity when they are already alive and said “I have the great honour to be able to gain such an artefact to Çankaya and name it after Zülfü Livaneli. It is very difficult to tell and describe some people. The name of Zülfü Livaneli recalls very diverse evocations, names, incidents.  The name of Zülfü Livaneli recalls Mustafa Kemal, the Republic and enlightenment. It recalls a struggle line dated back to Namık Kemal, Şinasi and Sabahattin Ali… For sure it recalls Nazım Hikmet and Yaşar Kemal. It recalls Abidin Dino, Brecht, Lorca, Neruda. It is because Livaneli is the reach of a democracy, peace and fraternity river running both in this country and in the World. Now he brings us consciousness, struggle and thought of the enlightened.

“CITIES UNDER LEFTIST RULE ARE LIBERATED”

“The enlightened and artists of this country are remembered with imprisonments, exiles, slaughters. It is because living and struggling in this country requires to pay a heavy price.” said Alper Taşdelen, “Zülfü Livaneli is too one of our enlightened who paid heavy prices. That’s why it is our main responsibility to claim our enlightened, keep their names alive and raise new generations who follow their footsteps. We try to discharge this responsibility”.

Taşdelen also stated that “You have contributed a lot to my personal world, to our country and humanity as well. We have been carrying out all our inaugurations, ground-breakings, shortly all our activities with your music. We breathe freedom with your music just the same way as your books and cinematography”. Alper Taşdelen, who underlines once more that municipalism is the business of Atatürkists and social democrats, said that “We rule the cities together with our people and base all our work on common good. Only we leftists are able to establish a viable World. Human beings have been leading a liberated life in the cities and countries ruled by the left. Here, Zülfü Livaneli and us as his followers strive for a World where all can live freely.

“MY DEAR ALPER”

Zülfü Livaneli stated that he did not expect such an important building like a cultural center to be named after his name and said “We have gone through bad and good times in this heartbroken but our beloved country. We attend the inauguration of cultural center in such a day when sufferings deteriorate. We as artists are not much accustomed to compliments. This city is where I married and my daughter was born and here is named after me. What is the best that could happen? My dear Alper said ‘we will build such an artefact’ and I said,    get a hurry on, Alper”

LİVANELİ, “WILL DARKNES OR ENLIGHTENMENT PREVAIL?”

In his speech Zülfü Livaneli commemorated the first death anniversary of Tarık Akan saying that “I want to pay tribute to Tarık Akan. Only Çankaya Municipality and other enlightened municipalities name after us. As I think someday when name of Yaşar Kemal, name of Yılmaz Güney would live, my brother Alper has made all these happen. As we have gone through the times when art is being trample on, we feel lack of Alper Taşdelen, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Hundreds-year struggle lie under iceberg. It is being asked if darkness or enlightenment will prevails in this country.  Don’t give up hope of my territory, don’t do give up hope of our territory, let’s start working guts out all together from now on not to lose our country to anyone. It is always CHP that builds all these artefacts. Because the culture is our business, it sides with the human rights and compassion, which is the business of the leftists.”

THANKS FROM YORGO PAPANDREU

In the inauguration of Zülfü Livaneli Cultural Center the former PM of Greece and the President of Socialist International Yorgo Papandreu started his address saying “I would like to thank Alper Taşdelen for inviting me to the inauguration of the cultural center. At the same time I am pleased to see my dear friend, leader of CHP Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu here today” and stated that “Zülfü Livaneli has a special place in my heart and in the heart of Greek people. He should be appreciated as a composer and writer, he is deserving for defending the same values with us. In 70s I and my family had to live in exile. Zülfü Livaneli and I lived in Sweden. It was a different experience for us and for the future of our countries. Most importantly, Zülfü Livaneli played a leading role for peace defenders.  Livaneli and Teodorakis actually have contributed to the elimination of stereotypes in their respective countries. We need courageous champions like my dear friend Zülfü Bey in today’s World, therefore name of Zülfü Livaneli  is the symbol of global progressive power”

KILIÇDAROĞLU, “I WHOLEHEARTEDLY THANK OUR MAYOR”

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the Chairperson of CHP said in his address, “If we want to be powerful in a country, one of the ways for this is to place value to the art and artists. Because, artists leave their products to eternity. Art and artists have kept their dignity throughout the history. They have been oppressed, imprisoned, exiled, their work has been banned. However, no one remembers those who impose bans but that banned work belongs to humanity.  Zülfü Livaneli was subjected to oppression many times in his life. I know Zülfü Livaneli from the songs from his forbidden tapes in 70s and 80s. He is an artist who has more than one string to his fiddle. It honours such an artefact is named after him.  Of course it makes us happy. That’s why I wholeheartedly present thank and gratitude to the Mayor of Çankaya. Mr. Livaneli said he did not ask it. But our Mayor felt that need and he is the one who inaugurate such a center, which honoured us. That’s why I wholeheartedly thank him.”

After speeches Zülfü Livaneli, Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, the Chairperson of CHP Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Yorgo Papandreu took to the stage and carried out the inauguration of the Cultural Center.
