ŞENOL GÜNEŞ IS NOW IN ÇANKAYA

Alper Taşdelen: “It is an honor for us to make his name alive in Çankaya, who wrote his name to Turkish sports in golden letters has won many cups through his sport life and makes our country proud of being in 3rd place in the World Cup.”

The sports-themed park which Çankaya Municipality built in Yaşamkent and gave the name of Şenol Güneş to the park who is a worldwide known sportsman opened with a glorious ceremony.

The field in Şenol Güneş Park was used for the first time by the former national footballers.

The giant sports park which named as Şenol Güneş opened with the collaboration of Spor Toto Organization and Çankaya Municipality. Many Beşiktaş fans and large number of citizens attended the opening and many colorful scenes occurred. “All-star team” stepped in the field after mayor of Çankaya Municipality Alper Taşdelen shot the first ball.

Children from amateur sports clubs in Ankara also played in the field besides the “All-star team” which includes national footballers like Ceyhun Eriş, Kürşat Demirel, Veysel Cihan, Zafer Özgültekin, Şenol Karagöl, Adem Dursun who had the chance to work with Şenol Güneş and Olympic champion weight lifter Halil Mutlu. The most colorful scene of the opening was the cheering of Alper Taşdelen and leader of Beşiktaş Çarşı together.

Mr. Taşdelen made a speech at the park which is 26 thousand square meters in Yaşamkent and has many sportive opportunities. He reminded that local community requested a sport complex and a park in his speech and said “Today, I am honored to keep my word and to have such a facility named as Şenol Güneş”.

THE NAME of the PARK BEING ŞENOL GÜNEŞ is NOT A COINCIDENCE

Mayor of Çankaya Municipality Mr. Taşdelen highlighted that the name of the complex, which has 
original measurements for a field, is not a coincidence. In his speech he said “It is an honor for us
 to make his name alive in Çankaya, who wrote his name to Turkish sports in golden letters, has 
won many cups through his sport life and makes our country proud of being in 3rd place in the world.
 Şenol Güneş, the name of success and gentlemanship, will live here forever.”

“MUNICIPAL WORK IS OUR JOB”

Taşdelen emphasized the importance of giving the names of social values such as scientists, journalists, politicians, academicians, sportsmen, authors, artists and martyrs to the parks for Çankaya Municipality. He said “ We are not transforming our most valued acres into residences or malls; we are making investments to be in the service of our people for instance parks, social facilities, swimming pools and market places. Social municipal work requires this. Municipal work is our job. We have the love of public and service. We will continue to stand with the community not the rent.”

Mr. Taşdelen expressed his appreciation to minister of Youth and Sports, Çağlayan Kılıç, for the support of cooperation with Spor Toto Organization.

IT DRAWS ATTENTION WITH ITS SIZE AND SPORTS THEME

The park that will serve the local community draws attention because of its 26 thousand square meters area and 14 thousand 500 square meters green area. In the park, there are a football field with the measurements in 63 x 95 size and 6 thousand square meters,  182 thousand square meters basketball field, 1400 thousand square meters running path, locker rooms, fitness area and a playground for children. The park opened to service to be a new sports and life center. It has many opportunities and it is not only for the usage of local community also for all citizens of Ankara.

PARTICIPATION TO THE OPENING CEREMONY WAS HIGH

Along with the position of host mayor of Çankaya Municipality, other politicians attended the opening too. Group Deputy Chairman Levent Gök, general vice president Tekin Bingöl, Seyit Torun, Deputy of Trabzon Haluk Pekşen, President of Spor Toto Organization Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, General Manager of General Center of Prime Ministry Cemal Karataş and many politicians attended the opening ceremony. The brother of Şenol Güneş delivered the message of that Mr. Güneş could not attend the opening because of his illness and he said “I thank to Mayor of Çankaya Municipality Mr. Taşdelen for such a complex.”

YAŞAMKENT SPORTS PARK IS ALSO IN SERVICE

Yaşamkent Sports Park is opened for service and is over 5 thousand square meters that includes volleyball, tennis, fitness area and a green area. It is opened in the same neighborhood where the Şenol Güneş Park is.
