Çankaya Municipality started to implement the Zero Waste Management System in its service units. The municipality separates recyclable waste at its source by removing all bins from the units. Çankaya Municipality took action after the Zero Waste Regulation published in the Official Gazette dated 12.09.2019 and numbered 30829 and established the Zero Waste Management System.

Çankaya Municipality, which first started recycling and recovery works with the KAYK (Recycling of Solid Waste) project in 1994 and pioneered the creation of a culture, switched to the Zero Waste Management System in its service building. The Municipality, which lifts the bins in all offices, will collect the waste collected in the recycling bins placed on the floors. Wastes collected from the floors will be collected in the Temporary Waste Storage Area established in the municipality building.

Çankaya Municipality, which accelerates the recycling works and collects paper-cardboard, plastic, metal and glass wastes, which can be recycled in the municipal service buildings, separately by collecting waste batteries, boxes and piggy banks, and recycling them, carried out many projects, especially awareness raising activities for staff and district residents. Çankaya Municipality also provided training to all personnel on the collection of recyclable wastes with the Zero Waste Bureau team established within the Directorate of Environmental Protection and Control.

"THERE IS NO OTHER WORLD"

Stating that they attach importance to zero waste studies in order to leave a cleaner environment to future generations, Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen said that: “We aim to collect all recyclable wastes separately in our municipal service buildings as in the district as well as to recycle the wastes and to contribute to the economy. We will continue our training and awareness-raising activities aimed at expanding the zero waste management system and raising awareness. We have to show sensitivity to this world, this environment as a citizen and an individual. We all see the natural disasters experienced. If we do not take action, we cannot leave a good future for the future. There is no other world”.
