THE NAME OF THE LEGENDARY MAYOR WILL LIVE IN ÇANKAYA

"DOĞAN TAŞDELEN CONTEMPORARY ARTS CENTER"

The name of the legendary Mayor of Çankaya, Doğan Taşdelen, who passed away on July 11 due to a heart attack, will live in the Contemporary Arts Center that he built during his time.

With the unanimous decision of the CHP and AK Party members in the Çankaya Municipal Council, the name of the Contemporary Arts Center was changed to “Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center”.

The name of Doğan Taşdelen, the 2nd Mayor of Çankaya, who died at the age of 71 due to a heart attack in Bodrum, where he had a holiday on July 11, 2020, will live in Çankaya.

The name of Doğan Taşdelen, who is known as the "Legendary Mayor" of Çankaya, was given to the Contemporary Arts Center in line with the unanimous decision of Çankaya Municipal Council's members of the CHP (Republican People's Party) and the AK Party (Justice and Development Party) council members.

UNANIMOUSLY VOTED BY THE COUNCIL MEMBERS OF CHP AND AK PARTY

Çankaya Municipal Council Members showed an example of loyalty to Doğan Taşdelen, who was known as the legendary mayor by having the most permanent works of the district built and put them into the service of the public during the two periods between 1989 and 1999 when he was the mayor.  The motion presented in the 2nd Term 73rd Meeting of the Municipal Council convened under the chairmanship of Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, was voted and accepted.

EMOTIONAL MOMENTS IN THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen experienced emotional moments as the name of the Contemporary Arts Center was changed to "Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center".

Alper Taşdelen, who declared the decision after all members of the assembly voted yes, could not hold back his tears for a while.  Among the applause of the council members, Mr. Taşdelen, who thanked all members of the Republican People's Party and Justice and Development Party, said that:  “I am very proud to be able to keep the name of my father, Doğan Taşdelen, the greatest architect of Çankaya, who established a throne in the hearts of the people by bringing great works such as Ahlatlıbel Atatürk Park, Contemporary Arts Center to our district, in his own work, Contemporary Arts Center. I thank all our council members for their support”.
