THE GREEN DIALOGUE STARTED IN ÇANKAYA

The “Nature and Cities Project”, which Çankaya Municipality carrying out together with civil society organizations from Turkey and the Netherlands under the European Union projects, gave its first fruit.

Çankaya Municipality continues being an example to Turkey with the works it has prepared in the international arena and the projects it has implemented. The documentary screening of “Nature and Cities Project”, conducted in partnership with the Nature Conservation Center Foundation and the Dutch based  Eurosite Association, supported under "Civil Society Dialogue between Turkey and the EU-VI Grant Program (CSD-V)", held at Contemporary Arts Center (ÇSM) on February 10.

At the event, where Deputy Mayor Gülsün Bor Güner on behalf of Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, Head of Project Implementation Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Hakan Atik, and the Chairperson of the Nature Conservation Center Foundation Dr. Uğur Zeydanlı attended, issues such as to improve the environment and sustainable dialogue, knowledge transfer and  collaboration between civil society organizations in Turkey and the Netherlands and to encourage nature-based solutions and green infrastructure in cities were discussed.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Çankaya Deputy Mayor Gülsün Bor Güner said that they were delighted to be involved in and host such an important project, which the civil society organizations and the public act and cooperate with.

Mrs. Güner, who emphasized the importance of documentary work on "green" projects and nature-based solutions between the two cities, said that: “I congratulate everyone who worked both in the production of the documentary and for the realization of the project. This is a very important project in terms of both strengthening the green fabric of our cities and demonstrating that civil society and the public can work in harmony for nature”.

THE ZAFER (VICTORY), LOZAN (LAUSANNE) AND İNÖNÜ PARKS APPEARED IN THE DOCUMENTARY

Drawing attention to the urban ecosystem services and its importance in creating sustainable cities, on green infrastructure and nature-based solutions covering Çankaya-based Ankara and Tilburg city of the Netherlands; the documentary met with the audience for the first time. For the documentary, which was shot in cooperation with Çankaya Municipality and BeIN İZ TV, many shootings were taken in Çankaya Municipality's parks, particularly in Zafer, İnönü and Lozan Parks. Attention was drawn to the compatibility of the tree species used in the parks and the green area plant texture with the climate.

After the documentary screening, the event ended with a talk about the studies of the Netherlands and Çankaya on the urban natural ecosystem.
