ÇANKAYA MUNICIPALITY EMBRACES WOMEN

Çankaya Municipality continues to extend the hand of friendship to all women who have been subjected to violence, wanting to know their rights and need psychological support. Supporting 252 women in the first 6 months of the year, Çankaya Municipality embraced 22 children who left home with their mothers.

Emphasizing that they are working for a life where there is no violence, Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen said that: “We do not leave women alone who are exposed to violence, we also provide them legal and social support with their children”.

Çankaya Municipality, which has been a role model with its efforts to ensure gender equality, has extended its hand of friendship to women who have been subjected to violence, wanting to know their rights and need psychological support in the first six months of the year.

In addition to 189 women, who reached Çankaya Municipality Women's Advisory Center via phone no: 458 89 00/1154, Çankaya Municipality also provided consultancy services to 38 women that applied face to face, and provided 25 women to settle in the shelter.

FULL SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN

In the shelter, 22 children were forced to leave home with their mothers, while studies were being carried out with children attending school, experts also spent time with them in the playrooms prepared for non-school-age children. In the shelter, which cooperates with various non-governmental organizations to meet the needs of women and children, a handcrafted workshop was established to enable women to produce. Throughout the year, Çankaya Municipality informed women on issues such as “gender”, “violence against women”, “discrimination”, “equality between women and men”, “legal rights”and“ employment opportunities”.

“WE DON'T LEAVE WOMEN ALONE”

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, who emphasized that they are working for a life without violence said that: “We do not leave women alone who are exposed to violence, we also provide them legal and social support with their children. We ensure that women who are settled in our women's shelter participate in employment as professionals and become stronger”.
