”THE CITY BELONGS TO THOSE LIVING IN THAT CITY“

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, attending the 6th Ordinary Elective General Assembly of the Çankaya City Council, stated that the Çankaya City Council and the Çankaya District Councils are among the most important examples of participatory democracy for the city. Mr. Taşdelen, who stated that they will sign new works with the Çankaya City Council and general assembly members in the new period, said that: “The city belongs to those living in that city. The understanding of “I made and it happened” of urban managers can’t be accepted. Çankaya City Council’s agenda will be Çankaya. Together with the City Council, we will talk about how we can better serve Çankaya. We will always be there and solve all the problems of people, we will continue stand beside the people. We're not a hall council, but a street council. We advocate participation, democratic processes, transparency and accountability.”

Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen, who stated that they have realized many projects such as Çiğdem Neighborhood Referendum and Yaşamkent Yaşar Kemal Park, which set an example for participatory municipalism during the provincial duty period, said that: “We exchanged ideas with approximately 150 non-governmental organizations formed by universities, associations, foundations and trade unions. Let’s implement a model which will be an example to Turkey in the new process. We love Ankara because Ankara is the capital of the Republic, Ankara is the capital of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. We will hold Ankara until the very end.”
